Corona, Corona (Covid-19-2020)

about

Composed in a day, and recorded over the next two, I enlisted the help of some of my favorite quarantined friends to send me contributions and compiled this out of the wreck.

It may sound flip, but I don't mean it to be. The vibe to me is more about trying to laugh and seem casual, grinning stupidly, while the fear is unmistakable in your eye.

And it made me feel good to reach out to my community for help on it. I hope you enjoy it.

lyrics

Corona, Corona

We’ve got the corona virus / we’re sitting here in quarantine
All day and night we hear the sirens / Like they used to hear in Italy

This the way the cookie crumbles / this is the way the chips will fall
Some will stave off, some will stumble / some will crave it that it kills them all

We’ve got the corona virus / we’re sitting here in quarantine
All day and night we hear the sirens / Like they used to hear in Italy

If this is the only world we have to live in / this is the only world we have to save
You cannot lose if you do not give in / the built in perk to being brave

All I know is I’m not ready to go
All I know is I’m not ready to go
All I know is I’m not ready to go
All I know is . . .

We’ve got the corona virus / we’re sitting here in quarantine
All day and night we hear the sirens / Like they used to hear in Italy

I want to live my life, I want to sing out / I want to fill my heart with song
It’s hard to do while the alarm bells ring out / but what about when bell and I both are gone?

We’ve got the corona virus / we’re sitting here in quarantine
All day and night we hear the sirens / Like they used to hear in Italy
We’ve got the corona virus / we’re sitting here in quarantine
All day and night we hear the sirens / I’ll see you soon in sweet Italy
