about

Live from a barn on an island, this brand new song was captured on July 26th, 2023 as part of the intimate summer concert series held each year at the Almanack Arts Colony on Nantucket, thirty miles off the coast of Massachusetts, under the leadership of the island's own Callie Kever.

The writing of Back Where I Belong began in the dreadful summer of 2020 in Highland Park, Il and was completed on Nantucket Island in the fall of 2022, during a songwriting residency at the Almanack Arts Colony, following a hometown tragedy.

This song's performance will eventually be released along with the complete concert, featuring 8 originals (five brand new) and 1 cover song for the Dylan-heads.

A separate studio recording of Back Where I Belong will also be released this year along with nine other originals on a new album TBA.

lyrics

While you were sleeping
I took a walk
And discovered there was no one
Sleeping at all

It must have been a dream
That rose up in me
A dream just to be
Back where I belong

Back where I belong

Riverbed hard and dry
Blue moon over the well
Dark blue you wonder why my love
Well who can tell?

You were the best that I had
Now it's driving me mad
Even good memories turn bad
In Hell

Is this where I belong?

If you need to go down
Don't despair
And if you need to go now
I can take you there

Every fourth of July
Will I still wander by
How come that boy's parents died
And I still live on?

It must have been a dream
That stayed frozen in me
Now I dream to put things
Back where they belong

Back where I belong
